Silicon Carbide (SiC), is a ceramic also known as carborundum that offers superior heat resistance maintaining high mechanical strength in temperatures reaching 1400° C. Additional properties include extreme hardness, good fatigue resistance, high thermal conductivity, low coefficient of thermal expansion, high chemical inertia and resistance to corrosion.
